Our drawing display comes with a pre-installed screen protector. The scratches you mentioned may have occurred on the protective film instead of on the real screen, please do not worry. We recommend replacing the screen protector every 6 months.

Can I put a sheet of paper on top of this device and draw through the paper? I want to record instructional videos and lined paper will help with keeping hand written words inline. The whole point is for the animation of writing the words, so guidelines in the software would not be acceptable.

Yes, Artist 12 can be used as a drawing tablet. You can put a sheet of paper on the surface of the display and draw through the paper.

I'm having trouble using the tablet. The screen on my monitor does show up on the tablet screen no matter how much i tried. the screen does show up but the tabs of different apps do not show. It only shows the home screen and the apps tab. The actual app does not show up on the tablet. The pen also doesn't match up with the screen either.

It's mainly you set the display to extended mode.
Below are the instructions to set Artist to extended mode/mirror mode
1. Please go to the display setting in the system control panel.
2. If you want to set to extend mode, you can set the Artist to monitor 1 or 2.
3. When the display set is finished, please open the Pen Tablet Setting and go to the Monitor Setting window. Select monitor 1 or 2 depending on your Artist setting of 1 or 2 before.

The Artist Display 12 isn't compatible with Chromebook. Our Deco 01V2, G640S Android, Star 03, Deco Pro S&M, Artist 12pro, 13.3pro, 15.6pro, 22R pro,24pro and Innovator 16 supports Chromebook on Chrome OS(8 8.0.4324 109 and above)

Okay. So, you've answered a question similar to this before, but mine is a bit different. I'm running on a Windows 8 Pro Intel/HP laptop. It has no HDMI port so I'm using an ABLEWE HDMI-USB adapter. I've been having trouble with connecting my tablet to this adapter. I've installed all the adapter's avaliable drivers, and I've installed XP-PEN's driver, too. But i've tried quite a few times and it has not worked! I want to know if it's the tablet or the adapter's problem. Thanks :)
